(Brussels 10/23/2014) With a rising number of young Italians emigrating abroad during Italy’s ongoing financial crisis, the Young Italians Brussels association calls on Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to do more to tackle youth unemployment at home.
The group asks Renzi to give greater political priority to youth issues be creating a dedicated Youth Minister in his government. Currently no such position exists, with youth issues being an overlooked issue and part of the portfolio of an undersecretary.
The Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will speak in Brussels today at an event on “Promoting Talent and Entrepreneurship in Europe , a Way for Growth” organized by East Forum.
The call comes as Italy is failing to implement European support measures such as the Youth Guarantee scheme at national level.
The #MinistroChi or MinistroWho campaign was launched by Young Italians Brussels in a letter along with a mock video job advertisement for the position.
